  • Donald Glover postpones Childish Gambino tour to 'focus on my physical health'

Taking to socials with the unfortunate news, Donald Glover let his fans and followers know that he’s pressing pause on the remainder of his Childish Gambino New World Tour in order to focus on his health. Listen to  Audacy All New  and more on the free Audacy app “Hey everyone,” Glover began, “Unfortunately i have to postpone the rest of the North American tour to focus on my physical health for a few weeks. Hold onto your tickets. ALL tickets will be honored for the upcoming dates in North America when they are rescheduled. Thanks for the privacy. Thanks for the support. Thanks for the love.” Glover , whose North American tour has a month of dates remaining, didn’t elaborate any further on his reasons for the postponement. The tour’s next scheduled date would have been on Tuesday, September 10 in Austin, TX, then it was off to the West Coast and Midwest before a final date in Chicago on October 3. Donald is also scheduled to take his tour overseas in November, with shows across Europe, New Zealand, and Australia through February 2025. So, if that leg still occurs as planned, it seems likely the postponed U.S. dates will be rescheduled for next year. Donald’s New World Tour is one of the “final” few offerings to come from his  Childish Gambino  persona, along with his latest album, Bando Stone and the New World , a forthcoming film of the same name, and a re-release of his leaked 3.15.2020 album reworked and retitled ATAVISTA.  His most elaborate production to date, Donald’s New World Tour employs complex technology, lighting, lasers, and more. "Designed by Tobias Rylander ( Beyoncé , The 1975 ), the technology for the show is truly next-level," Variety  wrote of the show's production, noting that the event in “Connecticut over the weekend was canceled because the venue apparently couldn’t present it properly.” Going on to detail the layout, the outlet explained, “There were two stages and two tall vertical lighting towers on either end of the arena, as well as big cube-shaped video screens on either side of the stage and a long walkway leading out into the audience; there was also a more conventional horizontal lighting rig and banks of laser lights that could pierce the air individually or shoot from one tower to another, forming perpendicular curtains of light. Most dazzling of all, above the end of the walkway was a sort of giant crystal cloud comprised of a couple hundred icicle-like rods that lit up in synchronized sequences — and even featured a giant mosaic-like video of Glover’s face — and rose and descended throughout the show. The audience was warned, by both a voiceover and later, Glover himself, not to look directly into the lasers or ultra-bright lights.” See Donald’s postponement announcement above. She started her 15-year EGOT journey winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 1962 for  West Side Story . She was awarded EGOT in 1977 with a GRAMMY for  Great American Documents . In her 45 year journey she also took home an Emmy in 1953 for Schlitz Playhouse of Stars and a Tony for the play, Happy Birthday and Time Remembered.  Richard Rodgers Richard Rogers secured EGOT status before EGOT was known. He achieved all four awards by 1962 and the acronym was not recognized as an award until 1984. Unfortunately, Rodgers passed before he was able to be honored for his high accomplishment, but he remains the first to ever accomplish the status. His first win was in 1946 for “It Might as Well be Spring” from  State Fair and he secured the status at the Emmys in 1962 for his original music in Winston Churchill: The Valiant Years. • The Weeknd reveals 'Hurry Up Tomorrow' will be the last album in his latest trilogy

The Weeknd has finally announced that his final album and last in his trilogy, following After Hours and Dawn FM, will be titled Hurry up Tomorrow . Listen to   The Weeknd Radio   and more on the free Audacy app For the announcement, that came via social, The Weekend released a visual that began with Star Wars ascending text intro vibes of poetic self-referential lines and complex concept explanations to help usher us into and better understand this final chapter. Accompanied by background soundtrack of ominous music. “YESTERDAY WAS FOURTEEN YEARS AGO… WE HELD OUR BREATH, FALLING INTO A SHIMMERING SEA IN THE AFTER HOURS OF THE NIGHT… ATTEMPTED TO CLEANSE THE WOUNDS WITH MELODIES AND LIGHTS, A BULLETPROOF BANDAGE TO SHEILF WHAT LIES BENEATH. IN A PLACE WHERE THE SEASONS NEVER CHANGED, WHERE TIME CEASED TO EXIST. BUT THEREIN LAYS THE PROBLEM. TODAY HADS FELT LIKE AN ENDLESS SPIN. I KEEP DISTORTING THE TRUTH, IMMUNE TO THE DIZZINESS, NUMB TO THE NAUSAE. WHAT LIES BENETH — SCREAMS IN SILENCE. I LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND FEEL BOTH OLD AND NEW STUCK IN LIMBO AND UNABLE TO MOVE. I STILL HAVEN’T FACED MYSELF. MORE SONGS COULD HELP, BUT WHAT DO I HAVE LEFT TO SAY? WOE IS ME IN MY GILDED CAGE RIGHT? THE VERY THING THAT ONCE MADE ME INVINCIBLE FAILED ME ON THE WORLD STAGE. A NEW TRAUMA SURFACED, OPENING FLOODGATES. A NEW PATH AWAITS. WHEN TODAY ENDS,I’LL DISCOVER WHO I AM. HURRY UP TOMORROW.” According to the artist the album, which does not yet have a release date, "represents the creative apex of the project, serving as the third and final chapter crafted with existential and self-referential themes as seen with the latest visionary teasers that have set fans ablaze with anticipation for this concluding installment.” Check out the announcement below.

  • Flavor Flav wants to make his Olympics support official as 2028 torchbearer

After serving as the unofficial hype man of the 2024 Olympic women’s water polo team, Olympic Games enthusiast  Flavor Flav  has his eyes set on carrying the torch during the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. LISTEN NOW: Politickin’ with Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch, and Doug Hendrickson — Flavor Flav! From Public Enemy to King Swiftie Talking about his unforgettable summer at the Paris Olympics during his appearance on the Politickin’  podcast, Flav told hosts California’s Governor  Gavin Newsom , former NFL star Marshawn Lynch , and agent Doug Hendrickson , all about his mission to be the torchbearer at the next games, four years from now. When asked what part of the experience surprised him the most, the Public Enemy vet revealed that “energy wise” being there was a “dream come true.” Noting, “It’s like, wow, I’m finally here, and I’m finally getting to really experience and see this in real life with my own eyes, and being in that moment.” Adding, “I ain’t going to lie, man, the Super Bowl — it’s exciting going to the Super Bowl, but this was a little bit more exciting.” It was at another point of the conversation, later on in the interview when Flav revealed that he’s already put in his bid to be one of the 2028 torchbearers. “Guess what? I got a feeling I might be one of them,” he said. “I put my bid in already. I said, ‘If Snoop can carry the torch in Paris — come on, man — Flav can carry that bad boy in L.A.,’ and Snoop did a fantastic job, man.” For those who might not have stayed on top of the goings on at the 2024 Summer Olympics, in addition to being part of NBC’s Olympic coverage team at this year’s games,  Snoop Dogg also acted as a torchbearer to help usher in the games’ opening ceremony in Paris. Flav continued to praise Snoop, for both doing a good job and securing the bag, saying, “He rocked. Even though they did pay him a half-a-million a day, Snoop got a nice payday out there, besides the payday, he did a good job and I know that man had a lot of fun out there. Mad big ups to you, Snoop.” Of course, Flav’s aspirations began way ahead of setting foot in Paris, or seeing Snoop’s roll at the games. Telling Rolling Stone , prior to hopping on a flight to Paris to support the Olympic women’s water polo team, “If everything goes well, I’ll be doing this for the next five years into the next Olympics. Adding, “I might even do it for another five.” To catch Flavor Flav share his Olympic torch-bearing dreams and more, listen to the entire Politickin’  podcast episode above.

  • Tyrese and Christopher Ammanuel talk new film '1992' and working with the late Ray Liotta

'Ray is the most intense person I've ever worked with' Tyrese Gibson and Christopher Ammanuel recently joined Audacy Atlanta V-103’s The Big Tigger Morning Show with Jazzy McBee to discuss their new film 1992 , working with Ray Liotta , and more. LISTEN NOW: V-103's Big Tigger Morning Show — Tyrese & Christopher Ammanuel of ‘1992' “So listen, y'all, we got a movie called 1992,” Tyrese expressed, going on to introduce newcomer Ammanuel, “Chris plays my son, and there's a lot of tension between me and his brother throughout the movie because he don't understand what he don't understand.” Adding, “And that's what y'all need to understand about what you don't understand, you understand?” Getting serious after that, to discuss the movie, Tyrese explained, “the movie is about the 1992 riots. Y'all remember that really, really traumatic experience.” Adding, “I won't just say it was traumatic for us as Black and Brown culture, it was traumatic for everybody to watch that footage of them beating Rodney King , beating that man, black and blue, literally killed him, brought him back to life. They got so tired while they was beaten, they were taking turns.” Going on to say, “So instead of Ray Liotta, rest in peace, and his crew caring about what was actually going on on April 29th, 1992, they decided to break into a warehouse and steal 50 million in platinum bars out of a safe.” “So it's a heist movie… You’re gonna see about three minutes of riot and looting in the movie because that's what happened when we got mad… But while they was riot and looting, they looked at that as a distraction and said, well, if you call 911, it's probably gonna take them about 4-5 hours to show up.” In addition to a heist movie, the film also has the father/son relationship. Explaining the dynamic between their two characters in the film, Tyrese said, “So Chris is my son, he’s in my life,” noting “not gonna give that part away but he's in my life suddenly after I wasn't in his life, and he don't wanna listen, just like the rest of these youngsters out here.” Tyrese also mentioned he was actually present for the 1992 riots, revealing “I was really scared. I mean, it was about five weeks of not seeing the sun. There was so much smoke and soot in the air, ashes was all over the cars. Anything in your whole neighborhood, your house, your grass, your streets all covered in ashes because it was so many things burning, you know, so many whole neighborhoods looting, rioting, it was crazy.” Though having had experienced the riots first hand, Tyrese expressed, “I would have never did this movie if it was a movie about riot and looting.” “I did this movie because of the father/son dynamic," Tyrese said, shifting his index finger back and forth between him and Chris. “Because of the father/son dynamic with Ray Liotta and Scott Eastwood .” “They're all goons… they rob banks… they do heists,” he said of Liotta and Eastwood’s characters. “They was like, ‘while y'all Black and Brown people mad at what happened with the verdict, we about to go get this money.’” Calling the movie “the most diverse film that's ever happened out of South Central LA.” Go down the list — Colors , Menace II Society , Boys n the Hood , Poetic Justice , Baby Boy , Training Day , Straight Out of Compton . "You've never seen as many white people in one South Central LA film.” “And you know, only I can say this,” Tyrese nonchalantly added, “this is The Fast and the Furious of South Central movies, with that much diversity, and I'm proud of that. Because normally when you have Black culture and Black topics, if white people is in there in the hood it’s normally them just being police officers doing bad things to us. So this is a movie I'm very proud about.” “But all jokes aside," Tyrese explained that actor Christopher Ammanuel, is "definitely the future, people are gonna be blown away when they see this young brother and what he's bringing.” Talking about the project from his perspective, Chris said, “We knew what was ahead of us when we got there. I think just reading the script, we kind of already had this preset position on how we are to show up on set and translate this relationship. This very unfortunate relationship, but familiar relationship to the audience… and we jump straight into it, improving scenes, rewriting things, trying to make it work, trying to make it feel as dysfunctional as possible because that's what it is.” Chris continued sharing his intentions to “pull out Tyrese’s best performance out of him ever,” as well as talking about what it was like to work with the late Ray Liotta. “Ray is the most intense person I've ever worked with and I've worked with some intense people including him.” Noting, “Ray didn't talk to me for two weeks, because he method acts, so he, rest in peace, he locks in and if he doesn't like you in the story, he don't like you in real life until he likes you.” The pair continued conversing about the film, sharing a couple behind-the-scenes stories. Tyrese opened up about being in tune with his emotions, shared his views on relationships, and more. To catch it all, check out the entire interview above. 1992, in theaters August 30. • Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis discuss season 2 of their Roku series ‘Honest Renovations’

Audacy’s  Danie B. at V-103 in Atlanta sat down for a chat with Honest Renovations hosts Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis to get into some details about the project as season two of their show is now streaming on Roku. LISTEN NOW: Danie B. talks with Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis https://omny.fm/shows/wveefm-on-demand/danie-b-talks-with-jessica-alba-and-lizzy-mathis Best friends Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis are back for another round of surprise renovations, helping families take their homes from “cluttered and chaotic to functional and fabulous.” “We do a big casting process. It's interesting, it's kind of an art because we want to find families that are relatable… diversity is really important to us,” Jessica says of Honest Renovations . “We wanted to not only have the obvious ethnic diversity but also just diversity in the types of families that we are showing,” “So, we have a single mom with a baby, we have a family with seven kids, three are out of the house, we have another family that has four kids,” she explains. “Just showing different ages and stages of families going through different things with family, dealing with illness, another family dealing with loss, another one that has a child that has different needs. For us, it's diversity in every aspect of what that looks like.” “But we really strive to not be typical,” says Lizzy. Thinking of typical home renovation shows as “cookie-cutter,” she says you “see the before, you see the after, you see a couple things in between. For us, at the heart of our show is the families. We thought about: How do we make a show that still gives the love of interior design and the love of a home renovation show, but flip it on its head and make it more relatable where people can really have takeaways that feel a little bit more special than just the house.” Getting a budget together to help these incredible families is all thanks to their amazing partners and sponsors, “but we do only have one budget,” Lizzy says. “We have one master budget to work with and we have to split it up between all the houses. It all kind of depends on what house needs what, what we're able to do in every house -- but we can't do everything in every house.” The idea for this project, Lizzy tells us, stems from her and Jessica’s longtime friendship and wish to one day work on something special together. “We didn't know what it was gonna be, but we wanted to do something together because we always have fun,” she says, “and we were like, ‘We have to do something where we could have a job and have fun because that's the ultimate goal, right?’ Then during the pandemic, we leaned in. We leaned into home design and content, and we created a little studio, which was one of her first houses. We re-did that, we redid her parents' home.” https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-5oOJZpoUL/?igsh=YzF2bmgwN3l0bmh4 “Actually, we're dropping my parents' renovation now, next week,” says Alba. “We're going to drop it on our socials, on YouTube… That one was intense because it was like, taking the house down to the studs, which is different than what we do with these families. With these families, we're choosing different spaces and we're doing different levels of remodeling, renovation, updating the space.” “When we started doing that,” Lizzy adds, “we thought, how do we make this into a show? How do we include families?” Don’t miss Danie B.’s full chat with Lizzie Mathis and Jessica Alba above, and stay tuned for more conversations with your favorite stars and artists right here on Audacy.
