  • Janet Jackson reveals her family tree includes Stevie Wonder, Samuel L. Jackson, and more

Janet Jackson already comes from one of the most famous families, and it’s no secret that talent runs in the fam. But what you might not know, is that it also extends to a couple A-list cousins, as she recently revealed to BBC Radio 2. Listen to  Janet Jackson Radio  and more on the free Audacy app During her conversation with Scott Mills on the  Zoe Ball Breakfast Show , Janet revealed revealed that in addition to being the little sister of late Pop superstar Michael Jackson , as well as Marlon , LaToya , Randy , Jermaine , Rebbie , Jackie , Tito and Brandon (who died shortly after birth in 1957), she’s also related to another legendary singer, or two, plus an iconic actor. “Are you related to Stevie?” Mills asked Jackson referring to Motown legend Stevie Wonder before cueing up Wonder’s “Do I Do” as for added effect. “He’s our cousin,” Jackson confirmed. “Not a lot of people know that. He’s our cousin on our mother’s side.” For Janet, having famous family members is nothing new, considering her brothers had already formed The Jackson 5 before she was even born. Growing up in the limelight, Janet eventually becoming a household name of her own. So after dropping the mind-blowing tidbit as if it were nbd, Jackson casually added Tracy Chapman is also a cousin, and “so is Samuel L. Jackson ,” making sure to note that despite their shared last name “he’s not my brother.” As for how direct the lineage is for the “Fast Car” singer and  Avengers  actor, it’s unclear as Jackson did not elaborate. Watch Janet reveal the additions to the Jackson family tree below.

  • Drake reveals this 'Views' track was about Serena Williams

Among the many new things we’ve learned about Drake due to the 100gigs of data he dropped on the internet, one new fact is that his 2016 Views track “Too Good” is all about tennis superstar Serena Williams . Revealing as much in one of those never before seen, recently released videos . Listen to  Drake Radio  and more on the free Audacy app In the clip, Drizzy is seen showing is mom Sandi Graham some of the new music he’d been working on at the time, 2016, as the Rihanna assisted track played. "I get heavy on a couple joints, but this is more about me and Serena," Drake tells his mom. "I gathered that," Sandi responds, which got a chuckle from Drake. Honestly, not a far conclusion to come to if you keep up with the intricate goings-on of Drake’s ever-evolving love life. "It's funny because when I make songs about women, I also make songs for them,” Drake continued. “So, I know what kind of song... If I'm gonna talk about them, I can at least do them the justice of making a song they like. I know Serena very well and I know that she'll hear it loud and clear. But she'll also not hate me for it because it's light-hearted.” "Look, I don't know how to talk to you / I don't know how to ask you if you're OK / My friends always feel the need to tell me things / Seems like they're just happier than us these days, yeah," Drake sing-raps on the track. "These days, I don't know how to talk to you / I don't know how to be there when you need me /It feels like the only time you see me / Is when you turn your head to the side and look at me differently, yeah.” When the song first dropped, fans speculated as to which of Drake’s flings the song could be about. Rihanna was a top contender, considering her and Drake dated in the past and she is featured on the song, but alas, nearly a decade later, we finally know, the track was inspired by Serena . Drake and Serena dating rumors started swirling as early as 2011, when he began attending her tennis matches. Then the following year, Drake and Common got into a widely publicized beef over both rappers' love for the tennis star. Jump to 2015, Drake and Serena were  caught canoodling by the paps, but by 2017 their romance appeared to be over. Which checks out on account of those “Too Good” lyrics, not to mention the fact that she had married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian . That being said, because he’s Drake, in 2022, Drizzy felt the need to name-drop his former flame and her husband on the  Her Loss  track, "Middle of the Ocean.” “I swear you don't even mean what y'all say like y'all dubbin' a movie / Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie," Drake raps on the song. "He claim we don't got a problem, but / No, boo, it is like you comin' for sushi / We might pop up on ’em at will like Suzuki.” For his response Alexis rose above, taking to X to write, "The reason I stay winning is because I'm relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do—including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter.” Anyway… Watch Drake reveal "Too Good" is about Serena Williams to his mama above, and listen to the 2016 track below.

  • Ms. Lauryn Hill and Fugees cancel US tour days before start

Just days before it was set to kick off, Lauryn Hill  has quietly canceled the U.S. leg of her co-headlining tour with the  Fugees . Listen to  The 90s Radio  and more on the free Audacy app After initially extending the tour, celebrating the 25th anniversary of her iconic album  The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, which was scheduled to start on Friday, August 9 in Tampa, Florida, on Tuesday, August 7 ticket-holders received notification that the tour had been canceled and refunds would be issued. It's a place hopeful Hill concertgoers have found themselves before, when she previously called off her 2023 tour due to “serious vocal strain.” And same for Fugees fans in 2021, when their reunion tour was postponed and finally canceled in 2022 due to COVID concerns. "Last year, I faced an injury that necessitated the rescheduling of some of my shows. Regrettably, some media outlet’s penchant for sensationalism and clickbait headlines have seemingly created a narrative that has affected ticket sales for the North American portion of the tour," Hill shared in a lengthy statement on Instagram. "The trust and faith I have in my intentions and my commitment to my art seem to have been overshadowed by this unfortunate portrayal." "Performing for my fans, is a profound exchange of energy and emotion that excites me every time. Every show is a piece of my expression and testament to our connection and shared love for music. I can assure you that no one is more disappointed about not being able to perform than I am." While all U.S. dates have been subsequently removed from Ticketmaster, it seems the European leg is still slated to go down as scheduled. "The audiences in the UK and Europe not only haven’t seen the Miseducation Anniversary performance yet, they also haven’t seen the Fugees perform together in over 25 years!" Hill continued. "Know that I am not only grateful for those who appreciate and support my art, but that I FIGHT and push through all kinds of resistance to put together experiences that mean something for all of us. I love being able to bring these performances to you!" Check out the full statement above and the updated schedule below, with all now canceled U.S. dates crossed out. • Rihanna returns to Barbados for Crop Over Festival in bedazzled costume, crown, wings, and not much else

It’s been a hot minute since we’ve seen Rihanna drop down at Crop Over Festival in her home of Barbados. Making her return to the annual harvest festival this weekend, RiRi came dressed to impress, but did we expect anything less? Listen to  Rihanna Radio  and more on the free Audacy app Real ones know, this is not Rihanna 's first rodeo Carnival. The undisputed queen of Barbados’ biggest festival, has attended the annual Kadooment Day parade since the early aughts, using her appearances to showcase various designers' daring creations. This year, RiRi teamed up with Lauren Austin Designs, a designer she’s worked with in the past for 2017’s stunning crystal bralette and matching epaulets, that just like this year’s costume, left little to the imagination. In 2019, the last time RiRi attended Crop Over, she switched things up, going with a body obscuring pink mini dress by Dutch designer David LaPort, embellished with pink marabou feathers. This year, swapping out her recently frequent over-sized sporty looks, Rihanna strutted through the parade in a brown and gold bedazzled costume, featuring bejeweled strips snaking up from her ankles to her shoulders, making sure to cover up the essential bits. RiRi accented the traditional carnival ensemble with a matching headpiece and gorgeous orange, pink and neutral colored feathered wings. Making it officially official, the queen of Crop Over is back. Check out pics of this years incredible ensemble below, and previous showstopper costumes above.

  • SZA inspired by Chappell Roan, but also ready to take a break from the stage

Following her headlining performance at Lollapalooza Day 2, SZA took a moment to spotlight the Chicago festival’s MVP of 2024 — Chappell Roan . Listen to  SZA Radio  and more on the free Audacy app “She makes me wanna keep making new music n art forever,” SZA wrote over Chappell’s  post  of the Midwest Princess performing “Femininomenon.” Perfectly on brand for the rising popstar who garnered one of the biggest, if not the biggest crowd the annual festival has ever seen… and doing so not even being a headliner. Despite the inspiration, just one day later, after closing out her headlining set at Montreal’s Osheaga Festival on August 5, SZA revealed she’d be taking a break from stage life for the foreseeable future. Taking to X to make the announcement, SZA wrote,“Yesterday was my last show for a while. Finally bout to get my life together thank u God.” The unexpected, yet also unsurprising news comes after SZA’s extensive run of 63 SOS Tour dates all across the globe starting in early 2023, followed by a packed summer festival schedule. That being said, while SZA did admit she’d be stepping back from the stage, new music is still headed our way, as SZA debuted an unreleased track titled “Cry Baby,” during her Lollapalooza set, telling the crowd, “It’s not out, but it will be.” Not to mention she’s been teasing her new project Lana , for a hot minute now. An album that started out as being the deluxe edition of SOS with a few unreleased tracks, but after a few leaks, is now going to be a new stand alone album with “music no one’s ever heard before.”
