  • Drake addresses fake friends that 'stab you in the back' during impromptu party speech

Drake , still in the midst of his battle with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar , took the drama out of the studio while attending Canadian broadcaster Tyrone Edwards ’ 'Nostalgia Party' over the weekend sharing a warning about fake friends. Listen to  Drake Radio  and more on the free Audacy app On Saturday night in Toronto, Drake took time to share words of caution regarding perceived friends who may “switch up” and “try to stab you in the back,” while adding, “my real friends, are definitely in the building,” according to a video posted to Instagram. “I’m going to tell you,” he continued, “you’re going to come to a point in life where people you thought were your friends or people you thought were close to you, they might switch up.” “They might try to move funny with you. They might stab you in the back. They might do a lot of things to you,” Drake, explained, likely referencing NBA stars LeBron James and DeMar DeRozan who supported Lamar on Instagram by singing along to his tracks during their ongoing feud . “You’ll come to that realization, wherever you’re at in life. You’ve probably been there and you’ll be there again," Drake added. "That’s how life is. Sometimes it’s you and you alone by yourself.”

  • Childish Gambino tour cancelled for surgery: 'Need time out to heal'

Unfortunately for fans hoping to catch him on stage, rapper Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino has canceled the rest of his 2024 North American tour dates and his dates overseas to focus on his health. Listen to  Audacy All New  and more on the free Audacy app Glover shared the cancelation on his social channels just before the weekend hit, after first postponing his Childish Gambino New World Tour  in order to focus on his health, and recently being hospitalized in order to undergo surgery. “After my show in New Orleans, I went to the hospital in Houston to make sure of an ailment that had become apparent,” Glover revealed in his statement. “After being assesed [sic], it became clear i would not perform that night, and after more tests, i could not perform the rest of the US tour in the time asked. As of now I have surgery scheduled and need time out to heal.” Donald continues, “My path to recovery is something I need to confront seriously. With that said, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of the North American tour and the UK and European dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase.” Finally, he adds, “I want nothing more than to bring this show to the fans and perform. Until then, thanks for love, privacy, and support.” At this time is no word regarding when Gambino's dates -- in celebration of his latest album,  Bando Stone and the New World , a  forthcoming film  of the same name, and a  re-release  of his leaked 3.15.2020 album retitled  ATAVISTA -- will be rescheduled,

  • Halle Bailey and DDG split less than a year after welcoming son: 'Still best friends'

DDG and Halle Bailey are sadly going their separate ways, with the former announcing the split on social media, less than one year after the birth of their baby boy. Taking to his IG story on October 3 to make the announcement, the rapper wrote, “After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we’ve spent together and the love we’ve shared.” DDG and Halle first went public with their relationship in January 2022. Things became official a few months later on Instagram, when DDG wished Bailey a happy birthday in a now-deleted video. The couple welcomed their son Halo in December 2023, announcing his birth this past January. According to ELLE , speculations of a split between the two began to arise in April, when DDG and Halle allegedly unfollowed each other on Instagram and took down some of the photos they had together. Seemingly squashing the rumors, the two were most recently seen together enjoying themselves at  Usher ’s  Past Present Future Tour  in Los Angeles just last week. With that in mind, DDG maintained, “Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other.” Going on to note that as he and Halle “focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parents, we cherish the bond we’ve build and the beautiful moments we’ve shared.” Before asking his fans and followers for "understanding and support" as they "navigate this transition.” And concluding his message with, "Thank you for your love and encouragement -- DDG.” Bailey has yet to publicly speak out about the breakup, but you can check out DDG’s full statement regarding the split below. • SZA is a bug, because she was tired of not being a bug: We’ll let her explain

SZA bugs out while eating spicy wings On the most recent episode of the fiery wing-slinging Hot Ones, SZA joined host Sean Evans  to take on the gauntlet of chicken wings while dressed up like a bug, and it’s giving A Bug’s Life.  Listen to  SZA Radio  and more on the free Audacy app “I’m wondering if we should even acknowledge the prosthetics,” Sean expressed to SZA, who said she was serving big bug eyes and antennas “for no other reason than I’m just tired of not being a bug.” However, something tells us there is another reason for SZA's buggy prothesis -- perhaps something to do with her new album promo. SZA has been teasing  Lana all year, especially since announcing in March the project would shift from being a deluxe version of the highly acclaimed  SOS , to a highly anticipated follow-up instead. From floating "Saturn" as a potential lead single in February, posting behind-the-scenes pics of some insect cosplay in May, followed by a full-on 44-second visual posted in June soundtracked by the unreleased track “Storytime,” featuring the lyrics, “I know you told stories about me, most of them awful. All of them true. Here’s some for u,” which is what SZA captioned the post. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C80J4HuvCfM/?igsh=MmhwMzJ3Nnc3ODFm As per usual, with every other guest in the Hot Ones hot seat, SZA chowed down on some super spicy chicken wings while answering some questions. For the first wing, Evans brought up how SZA shared how she sometimes approaches songwriting by freestyling, asking her how she goes about creating cohesive albums without a concept in mind. "I actually feel like a compliant is that my s*** is not cohesive. But I feel like I consider myself to be the glue… to myself… and to my sound, because I don’t have an idea. Like when I go into s*** I’m just like, ‘What does this beat make me wanna say?' And I just kinda say it.’” Noting that when she hears it back is when she comes to the realization of, “Oh I had no idea that that’s what that meant… or, I don’t know what she means to me until I say it, as I do it… I usually ask I’ll ask my engineer, I’ll be like, ‘Well that was crazy?’ And he’ll be like, ‘Kill your ex. Let it happen.’” Bringing up her quote to Billboard about how the success of "Kill Bill" almost pissed her off because it was so easy to write, Sean asked SZA if she’s the type of artist who has to suffer for her art to fully enjoy it. “I have a harder time enjoying anything if I don’t suffer for it,” SZA answered. “Which is why I have this mask on,” she quipped. “I feel like ‘nobody gets me’ is my goal of like — I can make a ballad, I can do X, Y, and Z — but they’re like… no but this other song that took you three seconds to write, as like a joke to your engineer… I don’t know, I guess I just need suffering as value." Segueing onto the topic of under-appreciation, with Evans noting he feels certain episodes of Hot Ones are underrated. He went on to ask SZA if there’s “ a project or a song that maybe deep down feel like was under-appreciated for what you put into it. Getting a bit choked up, not by the wings, but by the question, SZA said, “You know, people say a lot, like about Ctrl, they’re like ‘surely you know.’ But I think people forget, people really weren’t f***ing with it so crazy when it first dropped… Maybe if anything I’m just more surprised by how all of it played out. Not the way I thought it would, but more than I ever expected at the same time.” SZA went on to discuss work being your significant other, and wishing the music industry would be more of an honest relationship, the complexities and difficulties of touring, and creating a spectacle. From there the wings got spicier, and the questions kept coming — about everything from her past as a competitive gymnast and her love for trampoline parks, as well as her struggles with fame and distaste for the limelight, plus what she sees as the value of disguise. “This one brings me so much peace of mind,” SZA said cradling her prosthesis-covered face. “In the realm of like being a person is so daunting, and being in your own skin… just the freedom… and for no other reason of just tired of being, not a bug.” Suggesting Sean try out the bug prosthetic life “before this is all said and done.” It didn’t happen — just FYI. SZA also listed off which songs suck her back into the state of when she wrote them while performing them — which includes, “Nobody Gets Me,” “20 Something,” “Drew Barrymore,” “Normal Girl,” and “Broken Clocks.” She also revealed if she actually makes those recipes she asks for on TikTok, while sweating from the “hottest hot sauce in the world,” wing #8 doused in "Da Bomb Beyond Insanity," and chatted about what it takes to secure a posthumous verse from somebody like Ol' Dirty Bastard . To catch it all, watch SZA’s entire  Hot Ones  episode below. https://youtu.be/073AQxDKoi4

Katy Perry "My biggest life hack is transcendental meditation,” Katy shared of her biggest coping mechanism when it comes to her mental health. “It’s this specific type of meditation that you learn. Anyone can learn it, it’s available to everyone, you can go to  transcendentalmeditation.org , there [are] people, and places, and centers that teach everyone." Sharing she learned the practice “about 15 years ago,” Katy admitted it has since “changed my life,” revealing, “It is the biggest hack for me, for my anxiety, depression, mood swings, jet lag, hangover, and it’s where I get some of my best creative ideas.” “It’s really helped me with my mental health," Katy added. “It just flips a switch, and it’s a hack because you do it for 20 minutes, they suggest twice a day, once in the morning once in the evening. I do it supplementary… I do it once every couple of days. Like after I finish these interviews, right before I go to rehearsal for all these big shows I have coming up, I’m gonna go do a TM for 20 minutes, and it will feel like I had a two-hour nap.” LISTEN NOW : Katy Perry on how transcendental meditation has changed her life and helped her mental health Usher “I know it's against our culture to be able to assess some of the things that we've went through, but you gotta. You gotta get it out, you have to get it out,” Usher said when talking about the importance of asking for help. “And more than anything, you have to hear yourself and then you have to forgive yourself. A great deal of grief that we deal with in our life is the shame that we put on ourselves because we don't have the answers.” He continued, “Sometimes the things that you may have experienced [or] are going through in your life, it may have not necessarily even been your fault. So to be able to process that and get that out is good for you.” Sharing the tools he uses to help maintain his mental health, “having a therapist” being one of them, Usher expressed “every day, you know, I start by giving thanks to God and also to even having a personal time for myself. It’s meditation… not religious, it is more personal… not spiritual, but my mental capacity is based off of the space I give myself.” LISTEN NOW: Usher opens up about the importance of therapy and preserving your headspace Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins  “I've been through some serious mental health struggles. I almost killed myself multiple times, I'm so grateful I didn't,”  Billy  revealed. In order to find some kind of path through, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman believes in the importance of finding something that is "bigger than yourself.” “If that for you is God, if that for you as family, if that for you is community… heck, even if it's an artist that you really, really like, use that inspiration to bring the best out of yourself.” He continued, “When I was super depressed somewhere in the 2000s, I remember talking to a therapist and I was like, ‘Look, I'm going crazy here. Something bad's gonna happen.’ And they suggested I do charity work.” Admittedly the idea of helping someone else “seemed completely crazy” to him at the time, questioning how he could possibly attempt to help others when he was unable to get out of bed himself. “But something about the act of charity, or compassion, or giving of another seems to sort of dispel the cloud,” he shared. “One of the greatest things that ever happened to me when I was a youth and going through all this abuse at home and everything was, I started volunteering at the old folks home. I would go there once or twice a week, and all they wanted me to do was sit with the aged who'd been abandoned by their family and would cry because their daughter didn't call them anymore. All they wanted to do was have someone sit, hold their hand, and listen to their story.” LISTEN NOW: Billy Corgan on the value of inspiration Meghan Trainor  “Mental health was always very important to me before [my kids] were born, but now that they’re here, mental health is number one for me,” she shared. “I have to think about that visual when you’re on an airplane and you put on your mask first and then you put on the kids mask ‘cause if you don’t take care of yourself, how are you gonna take care of someone else? I want to be the best I can be for them.” In order to be her best, Trainor has set some personal boundaries for herself, especially when it comes to social media. The “Been Like This,” singer shared she does her best to protect herself from the haters and not give any energy to negative comments by avoiding them all together. “I don’t go digging for comments, I don’t sit there for a long time going through trying to figure out how people feel about me because I know not everyone is going to love me,” she said. “I don’t search me, I don’t take the time to do that.” LISTEN NOW : Meghan Trainor on mental health motherhood Audacy's  I’m Listening   initiative aims to encourage those who are dealing with mental health issues to understand they are not alone. If you or anyone you know is struggling with depression or anxiety, know that someone is always there. Additionally, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 988. • Marsha Ambrosius on the special circumstances surrounding her 'timeless' new album, 'CASABLANCO'

GRAMMY-winning R&B singer Marsha Ambrosius joined Audacy’s Mike Street at the Hard Rock Hotel New York to talk about using her powers for good now that her monster, Dr. Dre -helmed album, CASABLANCO , has officially arrived. LISTEN NOW: Marsha Ambrosius talks with Mike Street at the Hard Rock Hotel New York The name of her new release, Marsha tells us, came from the feeling of creating this music with Dr Dre – “Very much red carpets, white table cloth settings, and the lights and the moon and the stars -- a spoiled experience,” she admits. “It set the mood and tone for what we were going to create. Once we decided to make a jazz album, ‘Casablanca’ felt like the place to go and listen to it.” “So, it was ‘Casablanca,’ because it felt very vintage Hollywood. But you know, it's Dre and Marsh and it was Hip-Hop,” she adds. At Dre's suggestion, they changed the a to an o and called it CASABLANCO , “Like Griselda Blanco … Gangsta. Musically, those things kind of connected and made that feel how it felt.” Marsha Ambrosius – CASABLANCO tracklisting: Smoke Tunisian Nights One Night Stand Cloudy With A Chance Of ... Real Greedy Self Care / Wrong Right Wet Thrill Her The Greatest Best I Could Find Music of My Mind Listening to the album, Mike says he got a “Cotton Club, intimate jazz club,” vibe, “and the next thing you know, it flips to 1990 Hip-Hop club mid-track, but it's all woven together so tightly and seamlessly. It's like 1,000,000 count sheets,” he adds. “Pretty much, give or take a few 1000 counts,” Marsha agrees. “It was very riche,” she laughs. “Creating it very much ‘Harlem Nights,’ Cotton Club, but then that Nas beat will drop or that KRS-One will drop and something will happen that just kind of keeps your head nodding, and you're walking to an upright bass in the symphony all at the same time… it's literal audible orgasm.” All of the tracks were written “on the spot, just as we're sitting here,” Marsha says. “Just imagine a mixing board and a microphone in the room and it's all of us -- It's myself, Dre, the ICU. It's Trev , it's Bluetooth , it's Focus… , it's Dem Joints -- and we're building ground up all of these moments, just taking the slow climb, but making this moment just in the moment.” “It's almost like the songs were writing themselves all at the same time… It was happening while it was happening,” she adds. “The beauty of this album,” Marsha believes, is that she feels no need to try to replicate or upstage this unique effort. “We can build off of what that feels like,” she says, “but to outdo it is just to live it now because that music, there's so many moments within it, I feel like the nostalgia of it, just like your throwback playlist, that's what ‘CASABLANCO’ feels like now. We've created a timeless effort into giving all of these respectful nods to music that we love in one space.” Don't miss Mike Street’s full interview with Marsha Ambrosius above, and stay tuned for more conversations with your favorite artists right here on Audacy.

  • Eve is ready to tell all in her new memoir, 'Who's That Girl?'

'I knew I wanted to pursue music as a career' An icon of early 2000s Hip-Hop, with three incredible albums, all of which reached either gold or platinum, Eve stands out as the first lady of Rap collective the Ruff Ryders . The West Philly native covers it all in her new memoir,  Who's That Girl? From her journey in Hip-Hop, and acting, to motherhood, and mental health, available in bookstores now. LISTEN NOW: Bullseye with Jesse Thorn — Eve On the latest episode of Bullseye with Jesse Thorn, Eve delved into a few of those topics, talking about her journey from high school battle rapper to one of Hip-Hop's leading ladies. She also get into her life in London and how she's unexpectedly adopted some British lingo. Plus, Eve blows our minds and talks about her classic collaboration with Gwen Stefani . Posing the question in a rather unique way, Jesse essentially asked Eve if she was born into her persona or if it’s something she had to put together. Tickled by his Spider-Man metaphor used to inquire, Eve noted, “When I started I always had this energy, but I think I didn’t know how I wanted to show up,” about first starting out in Hip-Hop. “I think I kinda had to piece it together and sew it together.” Listing off the ways she started out, Eve said, “I was banging on lunch tables, cyphers on the corner, and any talent show that would take me.” She continued, “So I was basically doing all the things. I was a battle rapper, that’s where I come from.” Explaining that, “battle rapping is basically just cursing people out and showing your skills… lyrically.” “Especially since I was a girl, and most of the people I used to battle rap against were guys, I was always obsessed with my lyrics… Because I don’t want to just be good ‘for a girl,’ that was always an obsession of mine. So I did everything,” Eve went on to say, “because I knew I wanted to pursue music as a career.” To catch the entire conversation, listen to the entire podcast episode above.

  • Sean 'Diddy' Combs arrest in New York: Everything we know

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been arrested and taken into federal custody while in New York on Monday night, September 16, after being indicted by a grand jury. Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo shared a statement regarding the rapper’s arrest, speaking on how   charges were not immediately clear. “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” the statement reads. “ Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person but he is not a criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.” Damian Williams , U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, also released a statement about Monday’s arrest, stating “Earlier this evening, federal agents arrested Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment filed by the SDNY. We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.” As assured by U.S. attorney William, Diddy’s indictment was unsealed the following morning, Tuesday September 17. Revealing Combs has been charged charged with 3 counts — racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. As reported by TMZ , “According to the indictment, from 2008 to the present, members of the Combs enterprise allegedly engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, interstate transportation for purposes of prostitution, coercion and enticement to engage in prostitution, narcotics offenses, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice." The outlet went on to report that the official documents go on to imply that “the purpose of the Combs enterprise was to operate a global business in the media, entertainment, and lifestyle industries. The purpose also includes preserving Diddy's power and fulling his personal desires, especially relation to his sexual gratification, including through the exploitation of women and the use of commercial sex workers.” The indictment additionally mentions the now-famous freak off parties, calling them "elaborate and produced sex performances that Combs arranged, directed, masturbated during, and often electronically recorded.” As per TMZ , the indictment also alleges “Combs lured women into his orbit under the pretense of a romantic relationship and then used force, threats of force, and coercion to cause victims to engage in extended sex acts with male commercial sex workers.” Diddy is set to appear before a judge Tuesday morning where the charges will be read. While walking into the courthouse Diddy’s lawyer, Agnifilo, stopped to talk to press and let them know he will "fight like hell" to get his client released on bail, confidently stating his client is "not guilty." Combs’ latest legal troubles and arrest comes amid an ongoing federal investigation and a wave of lawsuits, most of which accuse him of sexual assault. Including the suit that started it all from ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura , to the most recent from former Danity Kane member  Dawn Richard , whom filed a suit against Combs on September 10, alleging verbal abuse, assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
