Mariah Carey on not being in the Rock Hall of Fame: 'My lawyer got in before me'

Mariah Carey is letting it be known how she feels about her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame snub. After being nominated, but not landing a spot in the 2024 induction class, the 55-year-old has no problems letting everyone know how she feels about it.

“My thoughts are, I didn’t get in. Everybody was calling me, going, ‘I think you’re getting in!’ and so I was excited about it,” she said when asked about her nomination by the Los Angeles Times. “But then it didn’t happen. My lawyer got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before me.”

While her comments might sound sarcastic — her lawyer, Allen Grubman — a co-founder of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame — actually did get inducted in 2022.

As mentioned above, Carey fell short after finally becoming a nominee this year. That comes after eight years of eligibility following the start of her career in the 1980s, numerous albums, hits, and more.
